Þorvarður Alfonsson

Þorvarður Alfonsson (1931-2023) was a distinguished Icelandic economist known for his significant contributions to the development of Iceland's industrial sector. He served in various roles, including as the director of the Industrial Development Fund and as an influential figure within numerous economic and industrial organizations. Alfonsson played a key role in fostering Iceland's ties with Germany, for which he received the prestigious Das Grosse Verdienstkreuz award in 1989.
