Đậu Văn Nam is a 33-year-old engineer from Nghệ An, Vietnam, who left a lucrative job in Japan to pursue an innovative project transforming discarded pineapple leaves into textile fibers. His journey began after he recognized the potential of this agricultural waste, which is typically burned, causing pollution. Over five years, he faced numerous challenges, including developing machinery to process the leaves and refining the fibers to be suitable for weaving. By late 2025, he successfully created a biodegradable fabric that meets the demands of the global sustainable fashion industry, working with major partners in Japan and China. Nam's commitment to environmental sustainability and local innovation exemplifies his belief in transforming waste into valuable resources.
