
Abdul Ghani Kasuba
Abdul Ghani Kasuba was the former Governor of North Maluku who became embroiled in corruption allegations, including money laundering and bribery related to mining permits. He was indicted in May 2024 and was sentenced to eight years in prison for corruption in September 2024. His case gained significant attention due to the involvement of prominent figures, including Bobby Nasution, the Mayor of Medan and son-in-law of former President Joko Widodo. Kasuba passed away on March 14, 2025, and the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) halted proceedings against him following his death.
