Adolphe von Nassau-Weilburg

Grand-Duke Adolphe of Luxembourg, born on July 24, 1817, was a significant figure in Luxembourg's history as he established a new dynasty after ascending to the throne in 1890 at the age of 73, following the death of King William III of the Netherlands. His reign marked the end of the personal union between Luxembourg and the Netherlands, allowing Luxembourg to forge its own identity. Adolphe is notably remembered for the Grand-Duc Adolphe Bridge and his patronage of the arts, including the Prix Grand-Duc Adolphe.
