Adriaan van Maanen

Adriaan van Maanen was a Dutch-American astronomer known for his early work on the identification of celestial objects. In 1917, he discovered the first 'contaminated' white dwarf, which provided initial evidence of exoplanets, although the significance of his findings was not appreciated until many years later. His contributions laid foundational groundwork for the field of exoplanet research.
