Agathe Habyarimana
Agathe Habyarimana is the widow of Juvénal Habyarimana, the former Rwandan president whose assassination in April 1994 sparked the Rwandan Genocide against the Tutsi minority. Born Agathe Kanziga, she has faced allegations of complicity in genocide and crimes against humanity since an investigation was opened against her in France in 2008. Accused by some of being a key figure in the 'akazu', a close circle of Hutu power that orchestrated the genocide, she has consistently denied these claims. Currently 82 years old, her legal troubles have resurfaced recently as the French anti-terrorist prosecutor has requested her indictment for her alleged role in the events leading up to and during the genocide.
