Agnes von Ungarn, born in 1280, was a prominent member of the Habsburg dynasty known for her significant role in Swiss history during the Middle Ages. After the assassination of her father, King Albert I of Germany, she became a powerful political figure, known as a mediator in conflicts between the rising Swiss Confederation and the nobility. Despite being characterized by some chroniclers as a vengeful woman, Agnes was also a generous patron of the Kloster Königsfelden, which she founded, and lived a life dedicated to her family's legacy and the promotion of peace. Her influence extended over several generations of Habsburgs and she is regarded as one of the most significant female figures in medieval history.
