Ahmad Makuwani

Dr. Ahmad Makuwani is the Director of the Division of Reproductive, Maternal and Child Health at the Ministry of Health in Tanzania. He has been actively involved in advocating for enhanced epidemic preparedness and the integration of research evidence into national health planning, particularly in the context of the country's growing burden of epidemic-prone diseases. During a recent policy dialogue, he emphasized the urgent need for effective detection and response systems to improve public health outcomes as Tanzania faces challenges from diseases such as cholera, dengue, Covid-19, and Marburg.
