Ahmed Samsam
Ahmed Samsam is a former Syrian fighter who gained notoriety for his involvement with the militant group Islamic State (IS), for which he was sentenced to eight years in prison in Spain in 2018. Recently, he was acquitted by the court in Horsens of charges related to endorsing terrorism after a Facebook post he had his brother make was deemed to have been misunderstood. During the trial, Samsam explained that he was unaware of the full extent of the Hamas attacks on Israel when the post was made, claiming he only understood the implications later. He has claimed to have worked with Danish intelligence services and continues to fight for recognition of his contributions.
