Ahn Jung-geun

Ahn Jung-geun was a South Korean independence activist and national hero, best known for assassinating Japanese Prime Minister Ito Hirobumi in 1909 as a protest against Japanese imperialism. His actions were driven by a deep commitment to Korean sovereignty during a tumultuous period of occupation. Captured and executed by the Japanese in 1910, Ahn's legacy endures through his writings and calligraphy created during his imprisonment, which have become symbols of resistance and national pride in Korea.
