Ajeel Mazhar Al-Asadi

Ajeel Mazhar Al-Asadi, born in Basra in 1939, is a prominent Iraqi artist celebrated for his innovative contributions to contemporary art. Known as the 'Picasso of Iraq,' Al-Asadi dedicated his life to painting and artistic experimentation. After facing political challenges, he emigrated to France in the 1970s, where he refined his skills and gained international exposure. He later returned to Iraq, settling in Baghdad, where he became known for his unique artistic styles, including his 'color planting' technique and clay painting. His works have been exhibited widely, and he is preparing for a retrospective exhibition showcasing his prolific career.
