Alain Roger

Alain Roger was a distinguished French philosopher and novelist, renowned for his contributions to the aesthetics of landscape, a field he significantly revitalized. Born on November 6, 1936, in Mirecourt, Vosges, he pursued his education at prestigious institutions, including the École normale supérieure. Roger held various teaching positions throughout his career, culminating in a professorship at the Blaise-Pascal University in Clermont-Ferrand after earning his doctorate in philosophy. His scholarly work focused on aesthetics and the interplay between the arts and major 20th-century philosophical movements. He passed away on October 7, 2023, at the age of 88.
