Alec Poole

Alec Poole, born in 1943 in Dublin, is celebrated as an unsung hero of Irish motorsport. He began his career in racing during the late 1950s, benefitting from his family's involvement in the automotive industry. Poole made history in 1969 by winning the British Saloon Car Championship, becoming the first Irish driver to secure a major UK title. Beyond driving, he also excelled as a team manager, notably with Nissan in the British Touring Car Championship during the 1990s, where he applied innovative strategies to achieve success against larger teams.
