Aleksandar II Romanov

Aleksandar II Romanov, also known as Alexander II of Russia, was Emperor of Russia from 1855 until his assassination in 1881. He is best known for his significant reforms, including the emancipation of the serfs in 1861, which aimed to modernize the Russian Empire and improve the lives of its citizens. His reign was marked by attempts to reform the military, judicial, and educational systems, as well as to expand the empire's territory. Despite his progressive policies, he faced opposition from various factions, and his assassination was a culmination of growing discontent with autocratic rule.
