Aleksandr Ainutdinov is a 50-year-old Belarusian from Gomel, who comes from a large family with eight brothers. He has worked various jobs throughout his life, including in construction materials and a winery, and more recently as a handyman pouring concrete floors across Belarus. A vocal critic of the Belarusian government, Ainutdinov participated in anti-war protests and created TikTok videos denouncing the war in Ukraine. In July 2022, he was arrested while attempting to cross the Belarusian-Ukrainian border, allegedly with the intent to join the Kalinouski Regiment, although he claims his intentions were purely humanitarian. He was convicted on charges related to participating in an armed conflict and operating a vehicle without a license, receiving a sentence of over two years in prison. Released in May 2024, Ainutdinov has since sought to leave Belarus and currently aims to rebuild his life in Poland after facing numerous challenges in his attempts to travel abroad.
