Alessandro Chiarenza is a researcher at the Department of Earth Sciences at University College London. He was recently in the news for co-authoring a study that challenges the long-held belief that dinosaurs were in decline prior to the asteroid impact that led to their extinction. The study suggests that, instead, the fossil record may have been misleading, indicating that dinosaurs could have been thriving just before the impact, and posits that without the asteroid, they might still inhabit the Earth today alongside mammals and birds.
