Alessandro II

Alessandro II, also known as Alexander II of Russia, was the Emperor of Russia from 1855 until his assassination in 1881. He is best known for his significant reforms, including the emancipation of the serfs in 1861, which marked a pivotal shift in Russian society. His reign saw attempts to modernize Russia and reduce the influence of serfdom, though it was met with resistance and ultimately led to his untimely death by revolutionary terrorists.
