Colonel Alex Mwachande is the Zomba Air Base Commander who recently testified before a Parliamentary Ad-hoc Committee investigating the tragic plane crash that claimed the life of former Vice-President Saulos Chilima and eight others. His testimony revealed critical failures in communication and equipment, including the absence of a functioning emergency locator system that could have expedited rescue efforts, as well as the aircraft's prior encounters with severe weather.
