Alex Pineschi

Alex Pineschi was a 42-year-old former alpine soldier from La Spezia, Italy, who was killed while fighting alongside Ukrainian forces in the Donbass region. A veteran of conflicts against ISIS, Pineschi was known for his deep commitment to helping the oppressed and was posthumously recognized as a volunteer rather than a mercenary, despite earlier investigations into his status. His dedication to the cause of freedom and democracy led him to volunteer in Ukraine, where he ultimately lost his life. His legacy is being honored through a proposed monument to Italian defenders in Ukraine, as advocated by former military officers and volunteers in Italy.
