Alexandre Niyungeko

Alexandre Niyungeko is a Burundian journalist and president of the Union of Burundian Journalists (UBJ), an organization that has faced government repression and is no longer recognized in Burundi. He was recently awarded the Courage in International Journalism Award by the Texas Tech University for his advocacy of press freedom and for his commitment to supporting fellow journalists facing persecution.
