Alexis Criollo

Alexis Criollo is the General Manager of Pondo Wasi Lodge, a family-run project in Angochagua, Ecuador, which promotes ancestral culinary techniques and cultural heritage. Established in 2017, Pondo Wasi Lodge addresses the loss of indigenous identity among the Quichua Caranqui people by offering workshops and experiences centered around traditional cooking methods, such as pachamanca. Despite facing challenges from social unrest and the pandemic, Criollo has focused on reviving tourism in the region, emphasizing community-based tourism and cultural preservation.
