
Alexy II
Alexy II, born in 1929, was the Patriarch of Moscow and all Rus' from 1990 until his death in 2008. He was a pivotal figure in the Russian Orthodox Church and was known for his efforts to foster interfaith dialogue and strengthen the church's role in Russian society during the post-Soviet era.
