Alfred Schwimmer

Alfred 'Al' Schwimmer was an American engineer and pilot who played a crucial role in the establishment of the Israeli Air Force in 1948. Faced with a significant military challenge, Schwimmer organized a covert operation to transport aircraft from the United States to Israel, circumventing an international embargo by registering the planes under a fictitious company in Panama. His efforts led to the delivery of essential military transport aircraft that were pivotal in the early defense of the newly independent state of Israel.
