Alfredo Salazar Southwell was a young Peruvian aviator and instructor in the Peruvian Air Force, remembered for his heroic sacrifice on September 14, 1937, when he saved his co-pilot's life during a catastrophic plane malfunction by directing the aircraft away from populated areas, ultimately sacrificing his own life.
