Alhaji Umoru Sariki

Alhaji Umoru Sariki is the Emir of Yashikira Emirate in Baruten Local Government Area, Kwara State, Nigeria. Recently, he was in the news for confirming an attack by gunmen from the 'Mahmuda' group on the town of Karongi, which resulted in one death and the burning of multiple houses. Sariki highlighted the vulnerability of his community, noting that the absence of local vigilantes during the attack allowed the bandits to operate with impunity.
