Alija Aljo Fejzov Smailagić

Alija Aljo Fejzov Smailagić was a renowned Montenegrin painter, born in Berane, who significantly contributed to the cultural and artistic landscape of the region. A graduate of the prestigious Art School in Herceg Novi and the Pedagogical Academy in Nikšić, he became a member of the Association of Fine Artists of Montenegro in 1967. Smailagić was celebrated for his portraits and landscapes that captured the essence of Berane, resulting in numerous exhibitions both locally and internationally. His dedication to fostering artistic talent led to the establishment of an art club in Ivangrad that nurtured many aspiring artists. Smailagić's work and mentorship left a lasting legacy in Montenegrin visual art, and he was remembered fondly for his vibrant character and artistic vision.
