Alma Desjarlais

Alma Desjarlais is a residential school survivor and an Elder of the Frog Lake First Nation, who gained recognition for her encounter with Pope Francis during his visit to Canada in 2022. She was present when the Pope issued an apology for the Catholic Church's role in the residential school system, making her a symbol of reconciliation and hope for Indigenous communities in Canada.
