Almasan Smatlaev

Almasan Smatlaev has been appointed as the Deputy Akim of Almaty, overseeing issues related to ecology, energy, transport, and public utilities. His appointment was announced on August 18, 2025, by Almaty's Akim, Darkhan Satybaldy, and follows his previous role as a state inspector in the Presidential Administration. Smatlaev holds degrees in economics and public administration from the Financial University in Russia and a degree in international economics from Bloomsburg University in the United States. His career began in 2009 within business structures, later transitioning to the Eurasian Economic Commission, and he has held various significant positions in the East Kazakhstan region from 2014 to 2023.
