Alon Scagio

Alon Scagio was an Israeli soldier identified in a new documentary as the individual responsible for the shooting death of Palestinian-American journalist Shireen Abu Akleh in 2022. He served in the Duvdevan special forces unit and was promoted to captain after the incident. Scagio was killed in combat in Jenin in June 2024, shortly after being named in connection to Abu Akleh's death. The documentary, 'Who Killed Shireen?', claims that Scagio intentionally shot Abu Akleh while she was reporting, raising significant questions about the accountability of the Israeli military in the incident.
