Alonso Marrugo Guardo is the president of the Sindicato de Trabajadores del Hospital Universitario Clínica San Rafael (Asintraf), where he has been vocal in advocating for the rights of healthcare workers. Recently, he was in the news for raising alarms about alleged systematic reprisals and labor persecution against union members, including the non-renewal of contracts for workers who joined the union and mass layoffs that have compromised healthcare services.
