Amalia Ortuño Lizano is a Costa Rican parathlete and five-time world champion in adapted CrossFit. Despite being diagnosed with a degenerative hip condition that left her in a wheelchair for life, she overcame significant physical challenges and mental health struggles to find her passion in adapted sports. Her remarkable journey in para athletics has already seen her break two national records in javelin and discus, showcasing her incredible dedication and resilience as she prepares for her first world championship in athletics.
