Amanal Petros is a German marathon runner who made headlines after winning a silver medal at the Tokyo Marathon, finishing the race in an impressive time of 2:09:48. A refugee from Africa who arrived in Germany in 2012, Petros competed under extreme conditions and narrowly lost the gold in a thrilling photo finish. His performance is particularly poignant as he dedicates his achievement to his family, especially his mother, whom he has not seen in nearly a decade.
