Amaranta Portillo

Amaranta Portillo is an activist with Las Mélidas, focusing on the protection of women's rights in El Salvador. On International Women's Day, she presented alarming statistics regarding the increase in violence against women, including feminicides. Portillo called attention to the failure of security policies to adequately protect women and highlighted the socioeconomic challenges they face, exacerbated by migration and environmental degradation, particularly due to mining activities.
