Amena Namjoyan

Amena Namjoyan is an Iranian refugee who fled to Lesbos with her husband and young child in 2015 amidst a humanitarian crisis that saw over a million migrants arrive in Europe. After enduring months in overcrowded camps and facing personal struggles, including health issues and the breakdown of her marriage, she has now settled in Lesbos where she works in a local restaurant, preparing beloved Iranian dishes for the community. She expresses pride in her identity and finds comfort in the cultural connections she shares with the locals, even as migration policies in Greece continue to evolve.
