
Amerigo Vespucci
Amerigo Vespucci, born on March 9, 1454, in Florence, was an Italian navigator and explorer whose voyages to the New World contributed significantly to the understanding of the Americas. He was the first European to explore the coasts of Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay, and Argentina, and his findings challenged the existing perceptions of the newly discovered lands. Vespucci's name eventually became associated with the Americas, as the continent was named after him, recognizing his pivotal role in the Age of Exploration. He died on February 22, 1512.
