Amey Dexter Cushman

Amey Dexter Cushman was a beloved sister and a joyful spirit, known for her remarkable memory and positive outlook on life. Born on June 13, 1949, in Morristown, New Jersey, she spent over 30 years living in a residence for individuals with intellectual disabilities in Montreal, where she inspired those around her with her kindness, humor, and passion for music. Amey's love for pop culture was evident, as she often outperformed her siblings in trivia games. Despite facing challenges due to her disability, she fully engaged in life, participating in activities such as the Special Olympics and working at a thrift store. Amey was the heart of her family, bringing warmth and light to their lives until her passing from esophageal cancer on January 12, 2025.
