Amos Yarkoni
Amos Yarkoni, born in 1921 to the Bedouin al-Mazarib tribe, was a pioneering figure in the Israel Defense Forces, becoming the first Bedouin to complete a non-commissioned officer course and later leading elite units. His bravery during service, including injuries sustained in combat with infiltrators, earned him a distinguished reputation. Yarkoni's innovative tactics and leadership in the Sayeret Shaked unit greatly impacted military operations, and he remained a revered figure in the IDF until his passing in 1991.
