Hawke’s Bay artist Ana Iti has recently been awarded the prestigious $100,000 Harriet Friedlander Residency, a recognition bestowed upon artists making significant contributions to their field. Known for her poetic and immersive work that intertwines sculpture, moving image, and text, Iti explores themes of land, language, identity, and memory. Originally from Blenheim, she honed her craft at the Ilam School of Fine Arts and later earned her Master of Fine Arts from Massey University. Moving to Hawke’s Bay three years ago, she balances her artistic pursuits with part-time teaching at EIT.
