Anas Alkharboutli was a courageous Syrian photojournalist who became known for documenting the brutal realities of the Syrian civil war. Born in 1992, he initially pursued electrical engineering before dedicating his life to journalism in response to the regime's crackdown on protests. His work, which began with low-quality footage captured on a mobile phone, evolved into powerful photography that shed light on the suffering of his fellow citizens. Despite being displaced and facing constant danger, Alkharboutli continued to report from conflict zones until his tragic death in an airstrike in December 2024, becoming the last of 283 journalists killed since the onset of the revolution in 2011.
