Andrea Alzate

Andrea Alzate is a Colombian scientist and entrepreneur, co-founder of Altero, a startup focused on recycling lithium-ion batteries to produce essential materials like cobalt, lithium, and nickel. Founded in 2018 in Guarne, Antioquia, Altero aims to contribute to the circular economy by minimizing environmental impact and preventing the release of hazardous materials. Andrea returned from Canada, where she earned her PhD, with a vision to create sustainable technology, which she shared with her family, leading them to support her entrepreneurial dream. Under her leadership, Altero has gained international recognition and has significantly increased its recycling capacity and revenues.
