Andreas Zikeli

Andreas Zikeli was the owner of a piece of preserved slănină, which he hidden in the tower of the fortified church in Dealu Frumos, Sibiu, during the last winter of the communist regime in Romania in December 1989. His intention was to ensure he had food supplies in case he returned to his birthplace after emigrating to Germany in June 1990. Zikeli passed away in 2001, but his son continues to visit the village annually, maintaining a connection to his father's legacy and the community's history.
