Andrés Mendoza Celis, infamously known as 'El Caníbal de Atizapán,' is a Mexican serial killer who terrorized the region for over three decades, believed to have murdered dozens of women. His heinous acts included not only murder but also cannibalism, as he constructed his home using the remains of his victims. Mendoza's case has sparked national outrage and highlighted systemic issues within the Mexican justice system, including corruption and impunity. He was arrested in 2021 after the disappearance of his last known victim, Reyna González Amador.
