Andrew Waugh

Andrew Waugh was a British surveyor and the Surveyor General of India who is best known for his work in measuring the height of Mount Everest, which was officially recognized as the tallest peak in the world in 1856. He led the team that determined the mountain's height and subsequently named it after his predecessor, George Everest.
