Andrey Lyubetskiy, born in 1971 in Berezino, is a notable pediatric surgeon known for his expertise in performing complex surgeries for cleft lip and palate reconstruction. He dedicated nearly 18 years of his career to the 4th Children's Hospital in Minsk and later taught facial pediatric surgery at a medical institute, where he met his wife, Natalya. In response to the political turmoil in Belarus in 2020, he volunteered as a medical aid for those harmed during protests, leading to his arrest in October 2020. Following a controversial trial, he was sentenced to five years in prison on charges related to participating in protests and insulting government officials. After spending over five years incarcerated, he was recently released.
