Andrey Pereverzev

Andrey Pereverzev is a Ukrainian soldier from the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, who gained international attention after sharing his harrowing experience of captivity and torture following his capture on February 24, 2024, during intense fighting for Novomykhailivka. In a shocking account, he revealed that he was subjected to extreme torture, including electrocution and physical beatings, and had the phrase 'Glory to Russia' burned into his abdomen by a surgeon in a Donetsk hospital. After enduring severe injuries from a grenade explosion and subsequent mistreatment, Pereverzev was eventually released in a prisoner exchange at the end of May 2024 and expressed a strong desire to return to the front lines if medically cleared.
