Andriy Pidnebenniy

Andriy Pidnebenniy was a 36-year-old political prisoner in Belarus who became the ninth political prisoner known to have died in custody. He was detained in November 2021 on multiple serious charges, including terrorism and creating an extremist group, and was sentenced to 15 years in a high-security colony. Pidnebenniy had been active in public life, opposing local development projects and participating in protests against electoral fraud during the 2020 presidential elections. He was a father of two and had lived in Belarus for six years while holding Russian citizenship.
