Anexa Alfred

Anexa Alfred is an indigenous human rights defender and a member of the UN Expert Mechanism on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. In August 2022, while attempting to board a flight in Amsterdam, she was informed that the Ortega-Murillo regime had denied her entry into Nicaragua, a situation she described as feeling uprooted and left in limbo. Her case exemplifies the broader repression faced by dissidents in Nicaragua, particularly those advocating for indigenous rights.
