Ángel García Rodríguez, born on March 11, 1937, in Asturias, Spain, is a prominent social activist and founder of Mensajeros de la Paz, an NGO dedicated to supporting vulnerable populations across the globe. Since establishing La Cruz de los Ángeles in 1962, which evolved into Mensajeros de la Paz, he has championed causes related to childhood protection, women's rights, and support for the elderly and homeless. He has received numerous accolades for his humanitarian work, including the Prince of Asturias Award for Concord in 1994 and a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2017. Currently, he leads the Church and Social Center of San Antón in Madrid, providing refuge and support to those in need.
