Anka Upala

Anka Upala is the pen name of Elena Kozlova, a Belarusian writer, translator, and publisher. Her recent book, "Раз на дваццаць пяць тысяч гадоў," explores themes of migration, identity, and cultural dislocation through personal narratives set against the backdrop of life in Sweden. This work is a continuation of her earlier novel, "На заснежаны востраў," which was shortlisted for the Giedroyc Prize in 2018 and reflects on her experiences in Sweden. Upala's writing is characterized by its insightful observations and engaging prose, illustrating the complexities of life as a migrant.
