Anna Gapeenko, an 83-year-old resident of the village of Babichi, is a remarkable embodiment of Belarusian culture and tradition. Known for her exquisite embroidery and vibrant personality, she has dedicated much of her life to preserving the artistic heritage of her community. Learning to embroider at the tender age of thirteen, Anna has spent nearly 70 years creating intricate designs that adorn her home, resembling a living museum. Despite experiencing personal losses, including the death of her eldest daughter during the pandemic, Anna finds solace in her craft and the folk songs she performs with the local ensemble 'Lyos.' Her commitment to maintaining cultural traditions and her efforts to pass them on to younger generations highlight her as a cherished figure in her village.
